Community
What is it?
EngAGE: Community is an online 12 week program for older adults delivered via Zoom. EngAGE: Community provides a supportive social community with combines physical, social, creating and educational activities.
The program is free and open to people over 65 years of age. It has been designed and delivered by Accredited Exercise Physiologists and utilises student practitioners to provide greater contact time to program participants.
The combined practitioner and student service model allows supervised group exercise sessions to be delivered in small groups. This ensures all participants feel comfortable with the activities and develop strong social connections with other group members.
What are the Benefits?
By participating in this program, you can benefit through:
Increased exposure to exercise expertise and increased physical activity
Improved physical capacity and mobility outcomes
Increased inter-generational social interaction and engagement
The EngAGE program also benefits the health system as a whole; by improving the health of senior Australians in the Community, there is a reduction in costs associated with health professional interactions, medications, and hospital readmissions.
